Become a FOSTER!
Foster parents open up their homes and hearts to animals in need. The Callaway County Humane Society Foster program places animals in temporary homes until they are ready to find their forever homes.
By becoming a foster parent you will provide love and care to animals in your own home. Foster parents decide when and what animals they foster. Anyone who loves animals and is willing to donate their time; retirees, homemakers, people who work at home or have flexible work schedules all would be amazing candidates to foster a pet. All food, medical care, and supplies are provided by Callaway County Humane Society. The average foster family will have animals in their care for 4-6 weeks but that time frame can vary depending on an animal’s needs.
In order to foster, you must be at least 18 and fill out our online foster application. Once we receive this, our foster coordinator will reach out to you! While we do not require our foster parent's animals to be up to date on vaccinations/preventatives and spayed/neutered, we do highly recommend it. If you rent, you must obtain permission from your property owner before filling out our online application.
Once a potential adopter is interest, our adoption coordinator will contact you only when the adopter is fully approved and serious about making that animal a part of their home. Meet and greets are scheduled during times that are convenient to both you and the potential adopter.
If you’re unable to foster, you can still support the program with a donation. We cannot do this without the financial support of caring people like YOU!
